With success comes stress. It may not seem logical, but being successful and having more money can create a whole new kind of stress. To make matters worse, you will elicit NO sympathy from those around you when you complain about these new issues.
The stress of success begins when you achieve a goal - win the lottery, get that promotion, rise above your peers. You know you worked for it, but do you REALLY deserve it? Will you be able to live up to the new expectations placed on you?
The stress is real, the anxiety is real, regardless of whether it is acknowledged by anyone else. Just like that bucket of crabs you see in the summer, where one little guy is bravely climbing out and the others are in a frenzy pulling him back down, people fear success. If you rise up, that means they are capable also. Why aren't they doing it? It makes them question and create excuses and compare and... And it just doesn't matter. You cannot concern yourself with everyone else.
We often let this fear of being criticized and questioned in our success stop us from truly trying. It is time to take control of your own life and stop playing to the mediocre. We all have gifts and talents to bring to the table. Your job is to realize yours and my job is to utilize mine. My talent is in helping you realize yours and accept and appreciate the success that comes with it.
